Bringing a long history of Great Commission involvement, Doug came to the Pioneers Church Partnership Team in 2008. Doug saw clearly the call upon all believers to global outreach and this influenced his early ministry with youth and then his twenty some years in the pastorate. Eventually he was called to the Moody Church staff as Missions Pastor where he served for nine years before going into mission agency work with another mission.
Now with Pioneers, Doug serves the churches of the Northwest, the Rocky Mountain and Great Plains states.
After seven years of church-planting ministry in Japan, Greg and his wife Brenda spent eight years doing mobilization in Australia. A native of Virginia, Greg now serves churches in the Mid-Atlantic area from their home there. Greg is also an armchair genealogist and an amateur beekeeper.
Greg enjoys serving and spending time with church mission leaders any time he can. He looks forward to the possibility of serving you in the near future.
Mike grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, where his local church was quite formative in his discipleship and world-vision development. During an Urbana conference he sensed God's call on his live to be involved in world evangelization. Mike served in Pennsylvania for almost five years as a pastor of discipleship, missions, and evangelism and for six years, and as the communications coordinator for ACMC (Advancing Churches in Missions Commitment). Before joining Pioneers, Mike served as the Director of Church Partnerships for Arab World Ministries. He often speaks in churches or at conferences on topics related to healthy church missions and on ministry in the Arab Muslim world.
Mike is married to Kathy and they have two daughters, Anna and Elizabeth, both born in China.
Mike helps local churches mobilize both for effective world evangelization ministry and for meaningful partnership opportunities. Mike has travelled extensively in the Arab world, often hosting churches who are considering starting or increasing ministry among the unreached.
In 1999, Carey and her husband Shane (newly married) stuffed their backpacks until the seams stretched, and moved from Southern California to Southern Peru. A year in the Amazon jungle, they sweat out a church plant alongside a local Pastor. Five years in Arequipa, they served coffee with a smile, accompanied by a word of hope. A local church grew from that. Five years in a small Andean village, they glorified Christ through a fair trade initiative and ate guinea pig with Aymara friends. Finally, another three years back in Arequipa, they founded Pioneros Perú (Pioneers Peru) in vital cooperation with a dedicated international team. All of this happened because a loving God worked faithfully through weak and regular people. Thank you God!
Now, Carey and Shane serve local churches on the West Coast of the USA, where, oddly enough, guinea pigs are pets. They know how much the support and health of their local church meant to them, so they have committed to bless the mission vision of local churches in every way possible. They can’t wait to hear your heart for the nations.
Marti grew up in the Seattle area and served with a ministry in Colorado before joining Pioneers in 2007. As a mission mobilizer, she trained and sent out many short-term teams to do relationship-based research to serve among the world's least-reached peoples. Marti has traveled extensively and is the author of Through Her Eyes, which describes the lives of missionary women in the Muslim world. Since 2004 she has been the managing editor and publisher of the web-based Missions Catalyst Magazine. She relocated to Eugene, Oregon and in 2012 married Chris Wade. They have two teen-aged children: daughter Haley is in college, and son Daniel is in high school.
Marti serves churches and the Church Partnerships Team in the area of communications.
Denny has served in many church staff roles as worship, missions, and small group pastor. He served on the staff of two mega-churches, a para-church ministry, and several church plants, and was also a business owner for 15 years. He and Nancy have been married since 1971 and live in Orlando. Denny loves to windsurf, surf-fish, and follow NASCAR.
Denny is convinced that churches will not be planted among the unreached without the partnership of the local church. He serves as Pioneers' Vice President of Church Partnerships.
Billy grew up on the West Coast as a pastor’s kid and spent time living in California, Oregon and Washington. He followed in his father and grandfather’s pastoral footsteps and for 14 years worked vocationally in various pastoral roles in the local church. Always sensing a call from God to missions work among unreached peoples, Billy and his wife Terra joined Pioneers and spent three years doing church-planting work among the Basque people of northern Spain with their two teenagers, Josiah and Abbey.
Since transitioning back to America, Billy is excited to have joined the Pioneers Church Partnerships Team as West Coast Facilitator. He is passionate about making disciples in the most unreached areas of the world and the opportunity to come alongside churches in their process of sending workers to these great harvest fields. In his free time Billy loves writing songs, recording, leading worship and performing with his wife Terra wherever people will listen. This has become a great way for them to connect with people and live on mission.
