“The mission of the Church is to call out worshippers from among the nations. Every church and every follower of Jesus Christ is called to participate in this global activity.” – Jeff Lewis

Mike grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, where his local church was quite formative in his discipleship and world-vision development. During an Urbana conference he sensed God's call on his life to be involved in world evangelization. Mike served in Pennsylvania for almost five years as a pastor of discipleship, missions, and evangelism and for six years, and as the communications coordinator for ACMC (Advancing Churches in Missions Commitment). Before joining Pioneers, Mike served as the Director of Church Partnerships for Arab World Ministries. He often speaks in churches or at conferences on topics related to healthy church missions and on ministry in the Arab Muslim world.

Mike is married to Kathy and they have two daughters, Anna and Elizabeth, both born in China.

Mike helps local churches mobilize both for effective world evangelization ministry and for meaningful partnership opportunities. Mike has travelled extensively in the Arab world, often hosting churches who are considering starting or increasing ministry among the unreached.

Scott grew up on the West Coast but now lives in the Midwest. While attending seminary, he worked at a local church. After learning about the great commission, Scott and his wife went overseas. They spent a few years there, and eventually led a team to do cross-cultural disciple-making among an unreached people group in a pioneering situation.

After serving overseas, Scott felt called to return back to the US to multiply workers for the great commission.  He is gifted in helping churches develop pathways to train workers while working with internationals.

In 1999, Carey and her husband Shane (newly married) stuffed their backpacks until the seams stretched, and moved from Southern California to Southern Peru. A year in the Amazon jungle, they sweat out a church plant alongside a local Pastor. Five years in Arequipa, they served coffee with a smile, accompanied by a word of hope. A local church grew from that.  Five years in a small Andean village, they glorified Christ through a fair trade initiative and ate guinea pig with Aymara friends. Finally, another three years back in Arequipa, they founded Pioneros Perú (Pioneers Peru) in vital cooperation with a dedicated international team. All of this happened because a loving God worked faithfully through weak and regular people. Thank you God!

Now, Carey and Shane serve local churches on the West Coast of the USA, where, oddly enough, guinea pigs are pets. They know how much the support and health of their local church meant to them, so they have committed to bless the mission vision of local churches in every way possible. They can’t wait to hear your heart for the nations.

He and Nancy have been married since 1971 and live in Orlando. Denny loves to windsurf, surf-fish, and follow NASCAR.

Denny is convinced that churches will not be planted among the unreached without the partnership of the local church. He serves as Pioneers' Vice President of Church Partnerships.

Connie and her husband Kelly joined Pioneers in July 2004 when the Church Partnerships Team was first formed. Previously, they served more than 10 years in Indonesia with Sowers International and four years in the home office of Literacy Evangelism International. While working in Indonesia Connie and her husband trained national church planters and helped their sponsoring fellowship of churches implement small house groups throughout their regions. Connie's favorite quote is: "The mark of a great church is not its seating capacity, but its sending capacity." Her heart is to work with churches to see the unreached reached with the Gospel.

Billy grew up on the West Coast as a pastor’s kid and spent time living in California, Oregon and Washington. He followed in his father and grandfather’s pastoral footsteps and for 14 years worked vocationally in various pastoral roles in the local church. Always sensing a call from God to missions work among unreached peoples, Billy and his wife Terra joined Pioneers and spent three years doing church-planting work among the Basque people of northern Spain with their two teenagers, Josiah and Abbey.

Since transitioning back to America, Billy is excited to have joined the Pioneers Church Partnerships Team as West Coast Facilitator. He is passionate about making disciples in the most unreached areas of the world and the opportunity to come alongside churches in their process of sending workers to these great harvest fields. In his free time Billy loves writing songs, recording, leading worship and performing with his wife Terra wherever people will listen. This has become a great way for them to connect with people and live on mission.

Jim Hasse grew up in many places as a military kid, but called Texas his home. He and his wife Lori lived in Austin, TX for ten years before joining a ministry serving among the least-reached in Mexico, beginning with two years of training among the villages of Northern Mexico, then five years in Oaxaca assisting church planting teams in tribal regions, researching unreached people groups, and discipling Oaxacan church leaders to pursue filling the Great Commission around them.

Jim also makes periodic trips to India to check on a small orphanage and to work with eighteen different indigenous pastors and gospel workers.

Coming to Pioneers, Jim brings with him a passion for discipleship and evangelism, but most importantly he wants to see Jesus high and lifted up in all aspects life. He desires to see missionaries on the field flourishing and strengthened as they go forth with the light of the gospel into a dark world.

Jim and Lori have three children: Elijah, Rebekah, and Micah.

Dona was born in the South but her family moved frequently and she has always loved going new places and meeting new people. Dona and her husband Brian both have hearts for missions and giving those who haven’t heard the good news of the gospel the chance to hear. After meeting some Pioneers at seminary and being introduced to Pioneers founder Ted Fletcher over dinner, they joined Pioneers and served as field workers among the Roma (gypsy) people of Macedonia. There they saw a church planted that continues to reach out among the Roma in that country and beyond.

After returning to the US, Brian and Dona provided member care to workers serving in Central Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East. Brian now directs Pioneers’ Donor Services team.

Dona considers it  a great delight to assist our Church Partnership Facilitators by calling churches to thank them for all that they do supporting, praying for and serving their Pioneers missionaries as well as offering resources and information, and praying for them.

Brian and Dona have three grown (and amazing) sons and a precious daughter-in-love.
