Frequently Asked Questions

Who should apply to Pioneers’ Orlando Internships?

We are looking for professionals who:

  • Are positive, passionate and hardworking with excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills  and  a strong commitment to Christ.
  • Can commit to working a minimum of 20 hours a week  for ten weeks during the summer.
  • Can attend a three-day mandatory orientation during the first week of the internship.
  • Have reliable transportation to our Orlando office (located in Lake Nona) and a phone and laptop they can use to work.
  • Enjoy being part of a fun and energetic team that is determined to give every people group the opportunity to hear the gospel.

* This internship also can count towards college credit if you are a student and your school approves it.

When is the program?

Our internship is a 10-week summer program. The 2024 program will take place from May 20–July 26.

How do I apply?

You can start writing this chapter of your story by:

  • Choosing the intern position that is the best fit for you.
  • Creating a Pioneers account and submitting your application and resume through our online portal.

After we review your information, we’ll contact you!

*The final application deadline is January 7, 2024.

Is this a paid internship?

Our internships are volunteer based and unpaid, which is why we only ask our interns to serve a minimum of 20 hours/week for 10 weeks. Pioneers does provide housing for interns who live outside of Orlando. Apartment rentals in our area range anywhere from $2,500 to $3,500 a month, and these high rates would make even paid internships difficult. Free housing makes this internship possible for interns each summer.

Some other ways our interns have financially prepared themselves for the summer are:

  • Applying for an internship scholarship through their college. If you are a student, we encourage you to check if your school offers that opportunity.
  • Raising personal support through their local church.
  • Working part-time and saving before the intern program or working part-time while serving in the intern program.

In addition, we do everything we can to invest and show appreciation to our interns. Each intern receives thank you gifts, a social outing and lunches during Orientation week and Intern Appreciation Week, an end of program celebration and a great professional experience to put on your resume.

*NOTE: The IRS considers any housing payments made by businesses or nonprofit organizations as taxable income. It is the responsibility of the intern to determine how much tax they owe and make payment to the IRS in the following year.

What happens after the internship?

We hope each of our interns will finish our program with:

  • Professional skills that will open doors to future opportunities.
  • A deeper understanding of missions and the many ways they can be involved in missions and the global church.
  • Authentic relationships and a strong Christ centered community.

Since our program started in 2021, three former interns were hired to work at Pioneers Orlando base, two interns joined Pioneers-International and two other interns were hired at different non-profit organizations. While these outcomes are not guaranteed for every intern, our interns are equipped with highly marketable skills after they finish the program.
