 Empowering Pioneers Missionaries

As Pioneers looks forward to 2011, there is tremendous opportunity, but also many challenges. We are sending out record numbers of missionaries, but this growth is stretching our capacity to provide workers with high quality training, support, and care.
To meet these challenges, Pioneers has drawn up the 2011 Missionary Empowerment Campaign. Foremost is the rising concern we have for the safety of our missionaries serving in hazardous environments. Kidnappings and killings of expatriates serving Christ are increasing, and we are responding with security trainings, regular threat assessments, and the strengthening of crisis response capabilities.
We are also providing high levels of training for workers before they leave for the field, but with 320 missionaries training, our capacity is being stretched. This is a challenge because we expect another 200 missionaries in 2011! Never have we seen this sort of response to the Great Commission.
Finally, we are strengthening the work of our missionaries in the Arab world through cutting-edge web-based outreach. Over 65,000 Muslims are visiting www.maarifa.org each month, generating thousands of conversations, and leading to the enrollment of 660 Muslims in online Bible studies this year! So, despite the barriers our missionaries face, the Word continues to go out.
