Poles

"Poland has not perished yet, as long as we (Poles) still live. That which foreign force has seized we at sword point shall retrieve."

These words from the first verse of the Polish National Anthem reveal the strength of will that Poles feel toward their own survival. Poles are friendly and hospitable people with deep passions and strong wills. Throughout their history, Poles have repelled enemy invaders, endured self-seeking leadership, and even been used as trade bait by surrounding political powers. They have become brave, patriotic and even somewhat rebellious—holding passionately to what they believe is Polish. Poland is a spiritually needy place. Less than 0.2 percent of the population would be considered evangelical believers. More than 90 percent of Polish municipalities do not have even one evangelical church within them.

  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to open the hearts of the Polish people to the gospel.
  • Ask Him to strengthen the believers here and make them bold in their witness.
