Local Church

Pioneers-USA was born in a local church. Our work today has everything to do with the local church, from the beginning of the sending process to the church-based movements in our fields of ministry.

Teams

International teams illustrate to the unreached that what we offer is Christ—not culture. As these teams work together, they also encourage and sharpen one another.

For many years, Pioneers has been one of the fastest growing mission organizations in North America. Based in Orlando, Pioneers currently partners with more than 2,000 churches to send more than 1,900 missionaries to the neediest areas of the world.

Pioneers has a clear statement of faith, a focused mission, and a consistently applied set of core values. It is a leader in the application of a "team" philosophy of ministry, and understands the current overseas missionary environment, maximizing the potential of indigenous national missionaries. Pioneers has a reputation for excellence, for the high quality of its missionaries, and for stewardship of resources.

Pioneers role is to recruit, train, and support missionaries who serve in difficult environments around the world. Pioneers also provides an efficient way for many churches to partner by organizing resources for greater impact, and providing benefits and services at a lower cost for each individual missionary. Pioneers also assists its field missionaries in communicating with their prayer partners and financial supporters, and in turn provides accountability, enabling churches and donors to have confidence in the work they are supporting.

Missionaries select Pioneers as their mission agency for a number of reasons including its focus on the least-reached for Christ, its flexibility in tailoring missionary assignments, and the opportunity to participate in multicultural teams. Pioneers vision, youthfulness, and decentralized leadership structure are attractive. Often, a missionary's sending church will recommend that they join Pioneers because the church considers the mission to be a reliable ministry partner.

Pioneers members experience fellowship with like-minded missionaries and enjoy the freedom to pursue their calling with a minimum of interference from their support organization. They enjoy an individualized, relational approach with special care and attention to their families and children. Pioneers helps them raise support to fund special projects, and provides critical services including insurance, newsletter publication, crisis management, a retirement plan, administration, and record keeping.

God's call to world evangelization may be the most challenging task in the world. Imagine relocating your family to another country and learning to function effectively in a new language and culture. Imagine raising your children there, while sharing the gospel with Muslims or Buddhists who have little idea what you are talking about. Imagine the challenge of raising your financial support through generous friends and churches. Factor in the training you would need in order to survive and to thrive in your ministry, not to mention the safety concerns you might have in today's super-charged international climate. Then consider how much more you might accomplish by working together with other missionaries and national partners.

This is why God has raised up agencies. Following the New Testament model, they band together teams of missionaries from diverse backgrounds in order to spread the gospel. These fellowships extend the impact of the local church, providing a critical support structure. Agencies also provide experienced leaders to help guide key decisions and care for practical needs.
